This means we need to take care of how those cells work together so they can function well as one body. The key to healthy living starts with eating a variety of foods that contribute to our overall physical health. A nutrient-dense diet and regular exercise will keep your body and mind feeling good no matter what age you are.


Here are some tips for an overall healthy lifestyle:


1. Drink Enough Water


Getting enough water every day is important for everything from overall health to skin and body image. But did you know that some Americans struggle with maintaining adequate water intake? When it comes to your body, water is not only essential for survival, but also plays an important role in your appearance. To get enough water each day you need to drink two glasses of water. However, depending on where you live, you may need more. If you’re looking for other ways to stay hydrated at home, consider these cool water bottles.


2. Get Physical Activity


Having regular physical activities like walking, swimming or taking part in sports can help you maintain your weight, build endurance and strength. While most people need around 30 minutes to an hour to complete their workouts for one day, some others need longer than that to reach a certain level. Regardless of how long you’ve been doing the activity as a child, there are plenty of ways to increase your active time as a person. For example, if you typically do three to four hours of cardio per week, try to add another hour per week to make up for it. For older adults, try going for walks for thirty seconds each night instead of getting out of bed. There is always time to meet a friend somewhere new and share a bottle of water. These little changes can make all the difference when it comes to making it through busy days.

3. Maintain Weight Loss Goals

So even though losing weight seems a lot easier now, you need to continue to eat nutritious meals and exercise regularly to keep it working.


4. Make Time to Relax


While many think sleep is just a waste of time, in fact, studies show that sleep actually affects mood and energy the next morning. In addition to being a vital organ in the brain, your body needs sleep to repair itself and create new cells. Sleep helps to relieve stress and lower blood pressure, improve memory and gives the tissues the nutrients needed to keep your bones strong. Plus, it promotes emotional stability and creativity for kids. Studies have proven that those who had sleep apnea had a 20% higher risk for heart attack and a 10% higher risk of type 2 diabetes. So, whether you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up, there are lots of simple things you can do at any time to help keep you happy.


5. Be Kind


While kindness is often associated with selfishness and cruelty, being kind to those around you is also good for you. Whether it’s helping out at a restaurant, or volunteering your service in some way, giving is something we all need to experience. It’s especially important for children, teens and parents to have the opportunity to give something back to those around them. And, while there are tons of practical benefits of giving, we need to encourage others to join the act of giving, too! Letting someone else go through something difficult is never easy, but at the end of the day, you want to create a positive environment they can thrive in. Being kind and generous are great practices to promote giving and to make sure those around us feel cared for and cared for.


6. Find Time For Yourself


Whether you’re juggling schoolwork, your family lives, or trying to juggle work and personal responsibilities, finding time for yourself each week can be hard, and that’s OK! Not everyone gets time to themselves, but it’s the least you can do as a human being. Don’t forget that we are meant to spend time with others but we have to prioritize this time away for our own mental and physical health. We should spend some time away from work, family and friends. And, yes, it would be nice if your weekend also included taking a shower or getting a manicure. Just remember to take the time you need when it comes to caring for your health and body.
